Grip Curling Iron

I need recommendations for a good curling iron?

I would say I have semi-thick that is about 6 inches past my shoulder. I want a curling iron that will give me loose curls (like everyone in Hollywood has). I I have gone through about every brand they have at Target & the drugstores - and I have had to throw them all away. I have a Revlon one that barely gets hot and does not grip my hair at all. I have another one that grips my hair to the point where I cant run it down my hair & it makes creases. I have a conair one that works pretty well, but I dont think it gets hot enough. I need recommendations for one that gets really hot, and one that grips....but not too tight. Also, what barrel size is the best? I want a good one, but I dont want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for one - I would say $75 tops - unless you think you have the miracle curling iron. haha.
