Treating Your Dry Hair

• If you have a dry and frizzy mane, using hot combs, blow dryers, flat irons and curling irons can do lasting damage to your hair. Opt for air drying, wet sets or wraps instead. Your hair will thank you for it!
• Hair colors make the ultimate fashion statement, but do not choose them at the expense of your hair! These colors are replete with ammonia that dries up your hair, making it look dull and lifeless. Stick to your natural color. In case you need to tint your hair, opt for ammonia free, mild colors.
• Dry hair is brittle and prone to split ends and breakage. Proper styling can actually save you from all the mess. Try wearing your hair in chignons, buns, two-strand twists, topknots, flat twists, braids and French rolls. These hairstyles will keep the ends of your tress protected and prevent dryness and breakage.
• Just protecting your hair from heat and sunlight won't help, if you have dry hair. Coarse fabrics like wool and cotton do much to suck moisture from hair, leaving it dry and dull. Go for satin or silk caps and pillowcases instead.
• If you have dry frizzy hair, abstain from shampooing it every day. Frequent shampooing can dehydrate your scalp, making your hair all the more dry and dull. However, if you need to shampoo your hair often, make sure to use conditioner between washes.

Conditioning is must for dry hair. Regular conditioning can restore moisture in your hair. Just coat your hair with a good deep conditioner, wrap it with a plastic cap and leave it on for a couple of hours. Rinse off with warm water.
Use bristle brush to comb your hair, instead of narrow toothed combs. Also avoid combing your hair while wet, as it might lead to further tangle and breakage.
