Do hair styling products damage the hair?

Every time after taking a shower, I use volumizing mousse and shine spray. and sometimes I use a pomade for waves...does that damage the hair? I ALWAYS blowdry my hair on the cool setting, never on the hot setting, and because of a new haircut I need to straighten my hair with a flat iron but before this haircut, I never starightened my hair, I just curled it about once or twice a week...I put in olive oil an hour or so before taking a shower and that seems bring alot of sheen and health to my hair! but I want to keep my hair healthy and beautiful by using natural products (like olive oil, coconut oil, lemon, tea tree oil ect.) would styling products in an y way damage my hair?

Hair styling products shouldn't damage your hair, however, they do leave build up. On ocassion, you should strip your hair of it all. Do this by washing your hair with Dawn dish soap, or rinsing your hair with vinegar! Afterwards, your hair should feel soft and look shiny!
